YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program

I have been contacted by the Bradford County Branch YMCA (Towanda) asking to please share information on their upcoming Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). Please see info below along with the attached flyer.

The YMCA is currently forming a group for our Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). DPP is a program created by the CDC and funded through the American Lung Association intended for pre-diabetic adults and will give guidance in the areas of diet and exercise. Participants can expect:

  • Free 6-month YMCA membership
  • Weekly, in-person meetings for the first 6 months
  • Monthly meetings in months 7-12
  • Weight/BMI tracking
  • Tips on food choices, calorie/macro tracking and activity tracking
  • Peer encouragement, discussion and accountability

And much more!

The anticipated start date for the DPP is dependent upon when the slots are filled. There are currently 10 available slots for the upcoming session.

If you are interested in participating, or know someone who may be, please contact Rachel Trent at rachelt@rvrymca.org or by phone at (570) 268-9622. From there, Rachel will schedule your FREE pre-diabetes screening to determine eligibility for the program.
